We are Hope

Hey Everyone! Finally got another song recorded, and I'm pretty excited about it! This will be the first song with drums. It's not me playing them, it's Jordan. (because he's better) I actually wrote this song a while ago, and we recorded it, but that didn't come out too well. So we scrapped it and started over, and this is what we came up with! Hope you enjoy this song!

Here's the lyrics:

Chorus
We are the life in the dead of winter
We are the light in the dark
We are the warmth till the end of the night
We are the calm in the storm
We are hope We are hope

Verse 1
the leaves fall off the trees
and the coldness of death descends upon you
the last heat of the year
rises to the sky
through your desperate fingers

Verse 2
the sun sinks low in the western sky
will it ever rise again?
the darkness smothers your eyes
feel the world and be blind

Verse 3
the clouds come like a steamroller
crushing everything with rain
it washes you out
the blue sound and bland sight
makes you wonder if there was a thing called sun

Bridge
you’ll always have hope you’ll always have hope (2X)

Problems

Hey everyone!

For some reason all of our Youtube videos were deleted, so that's why right now you can't play the songs. I'm really sorry about this, and I'll try to get them back up as soon as possible.

Song: The Finish LIne

Hello, friends!

This is my first "official" (with lyrics and almost properly recorded) song in a while. The EQing on my voice is pretty bad, and as you know, I'm not a very good singer. (some of the parts are rather horrendous) Don't worry, it's not just me and a piano, so be patient! When I wrote it, I was pretty much obsessed with it, so I hope you like it too - Jon

Verse 1
An ounce away from a quart of blood
but then again, the blood’s still coming
A foot away from a pile of gold
but then again, you gotta live to take it

Verse 2
And when the blood was still in your veins
you wanted nothing more than to hold it
but now that it’s left what good would gold do
in your arms that couldn’t even feel it

Chorus
And the body that used every ounce of it’s strength
to grasp those very pieces
is now lying dead on the ground in a
dark mine with no one to shed a tear

Bridge
What good did you do?
like a honeybee making honey only to have it stolen
your race has finished
but you never crossed the line
somewhere along the way
the corpse lies under the ground

Chorus 2
This is your story it could have been quite a tall tail
but you ran the wrong direction the whole time

Hello Friends!

I haven't gotten to record for a while, due to the crazy holidays and everything else. However, I am planning on starting up again, hopefully next Sunday. I finally had my electric guitar fixed, (the neck was all warped) so I recorded some experimental instrumentals. There are two sections to each song, so don't get discouraged that you have to listen to 2 minutes of the same riff, because you don't! Hope you enjoy! (I didn't record the drums, by the way)

Love in Your Blood

Here is a song I just finished writing. We did some more advanced EQing (is that a word?) so it sounds a little more refined. Enjoy!

Here are the lyrics:

Love in Your Blood
By Jonathan Wright

Verse 1
There is love in your blood
every drop in the dust
how can it be how can it be
that you loved me to death

There is love in your flesh
you wanted me to live
how can it be how can it be
as your skin ripped from bone

Chorus
how can it be how can it be
that you loved me
as I pressed the crown of thorns
on your innocent head

how can it be how can it be
that you loved me
as I lifted the cross
which was your deathbed
how can it be

Verse 2
There is love in your eye
as you search the dark sky
for a sign of your Father
and his love for you

There is love in your breath
as you cough up the blood
that leaves you white as death
there is so much love

Bridge
and every ounce of that blood
bought so many lives
and every pang of the pain
opened our eyes

New Song: Bleak House

Hi guys!
I know I haven't posted in a while, because I've been really busy with violin concerts etc. However, I have been recording songs! The problem is the songs I've been recording have been really difficult to edit. That's another reason why I haven't posted anything.
This song is about someone who believes there's nothing more to them than what's on the outside. Here's the lyrics:
Bleak House

By Jonathan Wright

This is just a bleak house
there's nothing more to me
empty rooms reveal
another empty feeling
from my heart

Gray the house I live in is gray
there are one-way windows looking out

movement around me
no movement within me

Hope you enjoy the song!

Instrumental-Guitar 2

Hello Friends!

Here's another instrumental song. I haven't been able to fit in a recording session, (I'm really busy!) so I recorded this at home. I think it turned out a little better than the last. (these instrumentals are primarily experimental, so don't expect perfection! : ) ) I had come up with this riff a while ago, but never really elaborated on it until now. Hope you enjoy it!

Instrumental-Guitar 1

Hey everyone!

Here is another song--this one's instrumental! I only used a guitar for the song, and will be doing other instrumentals focusing on other instruments. Hope you enjoy this!

(by the way, I didn't record the drums for this, and for some reason the audio is not stereo)

Love and Death

Here's another song. I was inspired to write this song after reading A Severe Mercy by Sheldon Vanauken. We read this book for a literature class I am taking. The song talks about one of the ideals that the two lovers in A Severe Mercy believe. They thought that it would be better for them to die together, then to leave one partner behind. However, they realize their folly after they come to Jesus. They realize that there is something better than their love: God's love. The recording quality is not quite as good because I recorded this at home. I think it turned out decently well, though . . . Enjoy the song!

(sorry about the video not being centered. I don't know why that happened!)

Here are the lyrics:

Love and Death
By Jonathan Wright

We’re gonna go together
we’re gonna sink straight down
with me holding you
and you holding me so tight so tight

The easiest way for our love to die is if we die with it
We can only sacrifice our lives for our love
in the long last dive (2X)

we’re gonna leave together
falling like shooting stars
and when we burn out
we’ll still be in love in love

but we don’t have to go together
we don’t have to be alone
our love will remain
but not the same the same

you took all our sins forever
we don’t have to pay the cost
Jesus came and was crucified
in the long last dive

Rising Sun

Here’s a song I wrote over the summer. It’s pretty much a the story of someone coming to Christ. David and I recorded it a few weeks ago. There’s no drum track because recording drums sounds terrible (because of the recorder) and the beat isn’t quite steady. Still, overall, I think it came out pretty well. Hope you enjoy!

Here are the lyrics:

Rising Sun
By Jonathan Wright

You are a dry and thirsty desert
a land that is haunted by self
you are blind to the light
you crawl on your hands and your knees

your swollen bleeding body
sinks into the mud of your sin
the endless struggle drains you
the fight to stay on top of the world

desperately trying for something more
but for what?
he has everything he ever wanted
will it last?

a hand reaches down
you cling to it (echo)
you are lifted from the pit
up into the light of the rising sun

Run into his open arms
follow him to death and victory
be free from the grip of sin
and believe
